Library local borrowing and contactless pickup service now available

John T. Richardson Library
(DePaul University/Jeff Carrion)
The DePaul University Library is happy to announce that we have reactivated local borrowing and established a contactless pickup service. You can now place online requests for books and other material located at the Loop Library and John T. Richardson Library for pickup at either location during our contactless pickup service hours.

How to request library materials

You can search for materials in LibrarySearch, the new library search interface, at library.depaul.edu. Once you find the item you wish to request, simply log in using your Campus Connect credentials and click the Request button. Choose DePaul University at the bottom of the dropdown list as well as your preferred campus pickup location (Loop Library or John T. Richardson Library). For a more detailed walkthrough of borrowing library materials, please visit our guide, COVID-19 and DePaul Library Services. Please allow additional time for processing, especially for materials traveling between campuses. Same-day turnaround is not guaranteed.

Contactless pickup

Once you've placed a request for an item and it has been processed by staff, you'll receive a notification from the library with instructions about contactless pickup. During Contactless Pickup Service Hours, have your DePaul ID available and call the phone number for your contactless pickup location to let us know you have arrived. Staff will verify your information and deliver your pre-packaged items. Please wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth and keep a distance of 6 feet or more when retrieving your items. Please place any returns in the book drop rather than handing material directly to staff.

Returning materials

Books and DVDs should be returned in the book drops located in Lincoln Park outside the west quad-side library entrance to Kelly Hall, behind the statue or in the Loop to the right of the library entrance on the 10th Floor of DePaul Center.  Items may not be checked in immediately due to quarantine protocols, but no overdue fines will be charged for any materials due back during this time. For everyone's safety, please do not hand materials directly to staff.

Equipment returns cannot be accepted via the book drop. Please contact us at libnotice@depaul.edu to set up an appointment for contactless equipment drop off.

Our commitment to you

The Library will continue its commitment to providing support for teaching, learning and research. We have prioritized preparation of fall quarter course reserves, digitization, online research support and expanded access to digital materials. In the coming weeks, we will be working on expanding pickup service to include I-Share and physical interlibrary loan materials and providing limited access to library facilities through our new reservation system. Stay tuned for further details. As a reminder, the Library remains committed to supporting our community and will keep you updated as the services you love become available or are restored to full capacity. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
