The NCAA has appointed A. Gabriel Esteban, president of DePaul University, as a member of its Division I Presidential Forum. In this role, Dr. Esteban will represent the Big East conference. His three-year appointment begins Feb. 1.
The purpose of the Presidential Forum is to assist the NCAA Division I Board of Directors in sustaining and advancing the association's mission, traditions and values. The forum also helps to uphold the NCAA core value to involve presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national level. Presidents and chancellors are elected from each of the 32 Division I conferences and meet four times a year.
“I'm honored to serve in this role and represent the Big East conference," Dr. Esteban says. “As university leaders, we have the opportunity to help guide national and conference matters related to intercollegiate sports. Student athletes are at the center of those decisions, and I look forward to working on their behalf."
Dr. Esteban replaces Conrado Gempesaw, president of St. John's University
