In November, DePaul President A. Gabriel Esteban announced the convening of a Provost Review Committee comprised of faculty, staff, a student and board members. The review process has begun, and all faculty and staff are invited to attend a presentation delivered by Interim Provost Salma Ghanem at the end of March.

The Provost Review Committee is charged with conducting a formal review of the performance of the interim provost. DePaul Trustee Joe Marbach, president of Georgian Court University, will serve as chair for the Provost Review Committee.

“Having the experience of serving as a provost and recently elevating the acting provost at my own institution, I understand the significance of this review process, and the important role the provost has in enabling the university to fulfill its mission," says Marbach, who is also chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee of DePaul's Board of Trustees. “The Provost Review Committee members are pleased to support the university through this process, especially as we continue to navigate the challenges and uncertainty created by the global pandemic."

The Provost Review Committee is expected to complete its work and submit a report to Dr. Esteban this spring quarter, at which time he will make a recommendation to the full Board of Trustees. The provost, as an executive officer of the university, is a board-appointed position based on the recommendation of the president.

The provost review presentations will take place on Monday, March 29, at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, March 30, at 4 p.m. Faculty and staff may register for the presentation that best fits their schedule. A question and answer session will follow each presentation. A recording of the presentation will be made available in Newsline. All faculty and staff also will have the opportunity to complete a survey.

The deadline to register for the provost review presentations is Sunday, March 28, at 5 p.m. Additionally, faculty and staff may submit questions for consideration during the question and answer portion of the provost review presentations. Advance questions will be included with those submitted by attendees during the live sessions. Questions must be submitted using this form before 3 p.m. on Friday, March 26.
