Spring break travel information and recommendation

COVID 19 update

Spring break and the Easter holiday are just around the corner and many of us are longing to travel. However, the COVID-19 pandemic remains a serious threat. As a result, DePaul highly recommends faculty, staff and students stay home instead of traveling.

This may not be ideal, especially after a year spent learning and working virtually. However, taking care of one another is core to DePaul's Vincentian mission. Staying home is a simple, but critical, way to stop the spread of COVID-19. This is especially important as cities and towns across the country are reporting new, more contagious strains of the virus.

If traveling is absolutely necessary, travelers returning to the city of Chicago are required by law to follow Chicago's Emergency Travel Order. Individuals found in violation of the order are subject to fines from the city.

For travelers returning to the city from the majority of states, a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arrival in Chicago or a 10-day quarantine is required. Students, faculty and staff who travel and need to quarantine will have to make arrangements with their professors or managers for any missed in-person classes or work.

Before traveling, please visit the city's Travel Order website. It is updated every other Tuesday. For travelers who live in suburban Cook County, please review this travel guidance. Regularly visit DePaul's COVID-19 website for more information and resources on the university's COVID-19 efforts.

Thank you for taking care of each other. We're all in this together.
