We are thankful with yesterday's announcement the Trump administration has rescinded a rule that would have required international students to take in-person classes this fall in order to remain in the country and continue their education. The previously announced rule change on July 6 created a precarious situation that put our international students at a major disadvantage. DePaul University had joined many other higher education institutions in support of the legal challenges to the new rule in the court system.

Our international students are relieved, as are we. International students have the same needs, fears and concerns as all other students when considering how to continue their education in the fall and should be allowed the same flexibility, with their health and safety as primary concerns.

In the midst of COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, DePaul University is fully engaged in developing multiple in-person and online teaching modalities this fall for all of its students, in order to allow maximum flexibility in an uncertain and constantly changing landscape.
