The Rev. Ed Udovic, C.M., recently announced he will step down from his roles as university secretary and vice president for Mission & Ministry at the end of this academic year. As a result of the review of key processes in the Office of the Secretary, prompted by Fr. Udovic’s plan to retire, responsibility for all aspects of Commencement and Convocation will be consolidated within Academic Affairs, an appropriate home for the university’s preeminent academic events.
Responsibility for the variety of other university-wide events managed by the Office of University Events will be consolidated within the Office of Public Relations and Communications.

The restructuring of the Office of the Secretary will allow for the present broad responsibilities of the Office of the Secretary to be refocused on supporting the work of the university’s Board of Trustees, its core function.

Effective Feb. 18, the Office of University Events will be reorganized as follows:

Reporting to Rob Karpinski, Academic Affairs associate vice president, the Academic Events group: Jennifer Kramer, Victoria Simek and Nancy Gonzalez will join Academic Affairs to support Commencement, Convocation and other academic-related activities.

Reporting to Melissa Grady, Tanya Lewis and LeVonna Broomfield will join OPRC. The office will now lead a variety of additional events, including the State of the University address, the Consular Corps luncheon, DePaul Emeritus Society luncheon, Distinguished Service Awards and the end-of-the-year picnic.
