Vice President of Mission and Ministry search process extended

Dear DePaul community,

I would like to provide an update on the search for DePaul’s next vice president of Mission and Ministry.

After an extensive candidate recruitment and interview process, involving numerous campus constituencies, we have decided to extend the search and actively resume the work of recruiting our next vice president of Mission and Ministry in the fall.

At DePaul, the vice president of Mission and Ministry is charged with assessing the structures and leading the programs, practices, events and celebrations that focus on DePaul’s mission, vision, values, identity and strategic agenda.

We seek a leader who can help provide for the spiritual needs of our students, faculty, staff, administration and alumni, with a special focus on mission and leadership formation; advising administrators, faculty, staff and students throughout the university; as well as mission-related assistance to, and a public mission presence within, the local community and the global Vincentian Family.

We continue the search for a vice president to lead the Division of Mission and Ministry at a time when we have renewed our commitment to ensuring that our university continues to be grounded in mission. While the search process continues, Gene Zdziarski, vice president for Student Affairs, will also serve as interim vice president for Mission and Ministry. I thank Gene for his willingness to serve our university community in this capacity.

Given the circumstances, and the inability of some members of the search committee to continue serving on the committee, a new committee will be convened and the roster of the re-constituted search committee will be announced soon. We hope to have an appointment made this fall, with the new vice president assuming responsibility for the Division of Mission and Ministry in January.

Sincerely,

A. Gabriel Esteban
President
