As I approach the completion of my first academic year at DePaul, I have experienced firsthand what makes our university distinct. From nationally recognized academic programs to talented faculty and staff, we have a lot to be proud of at DePaul. Your dedication to upholding our Catholic Vincentian mission continues to impress me the most. Vincentian Service Day is an excellent example of our mission in action.
On Saturday, May 12, DePaul will host the 20th annual Vincentian Service Day. I invite you to join more than 1,000 DePaul students, staff, faculty and alumni as they volunteer across Chicago. Registration is now open for individuals and groups, and I encourage all members of the DePaul community to participate.
Inspired by the legacy of St. Vincent de Paul, Vincentian Service Day is one of our most respected traditions. From volunteering in homeless shelters to planting community gardens, members of the DePaul community have the opportunity to serve at more than 45 organizations across Chicago. Following the morning service activities, all volunteers are invited to return to the Lincoln Park Quad for the Service & Justice Fair, which includes lunch, art, activities and music.
I feel blessed to be part of a community that cares so deeply about serving others. It makes me proud that every year our students, faculty and staff complete hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours. Thank you for your continued service and dedication to fulfilling our mission.
