Adjunct faculty: Self-nominations due Sept. 25 to serve on Workplace Environment Committee

DePaul's Loop Campus
Eligible adjunct faculty
members
have until Tuesday, Sept. 25 to submit self-nominations to serve on the Workplace Environment Committee.

The WEC's charge is to hear, report and suggest resolutions for workplace issues affecting the lives of adjunct faculty members across the university, except for issues of academic policy and governance, which fall under the purview of Faculty Council and its Committee on Contingent Faculty. Provost Marten denBoer created the advisory body, which includes 14 adjunct faculty members, two years ago on the recommendation of the Adjunct Task Force.

Last year, the WEC hosted or co-hosted a number of events for adjunct faculty members, including a resource fair in the fall, a meet and greet on each campus and the annual Adjunct Faculty Appreciation Reception. Read more about their progress on other initiatives here.

Elections will take place in the Driehaus College of Business, College of Communication, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Health, School for New Learning and School of Music. The Theatre School, College of Computing and Digital Media and College of Law will not have elections this year because their members were elected to two-year terms last fall.

Self-nominations opened Sept. 11 and will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Sept. 25. Instructions for submitting a nomination can be found in a message sent last week to adjunct faculty by the deans of each school or college.

The online election will take place from Oct. 2 through Oct. 9. Adjunct faculty members in each of the seven colleges and schools holding elections will receive nomination and election instructions from their deans.
