New 2022 rankings released by
U.S News & World Report place DePaul’s online programs among the best in the country, with a focus on undergraduates, graduate students in education, as well as veterans. The rankings herald DePaul’s undergraduate online programs for their “academic quality and effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time.”
DePaul placed 68th in the country for best overall online bachelor’s program, up from 107th place last year. U.S. News notes in their methodology that the majority of students enrolled in their ranked online programs have earned previous college credit. Many are working professionals seeking to advance or change their careers.
DePaul now offers 11 online undergraduate degrees, including programs in the College of Communication, College of Science and Health, College of Computing and Digital Media and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. DePaul has more than 20 years of experience in developing and conducting online classes.
Strong academic foundations boost undergraduate online programs
“While many universities have pivoted to bring programs online during the pandemic, DePaul University already had a strong foundation. DePaul faculty have helped spearhead a model for innovative online education,” says Salma Ghanem, provost. “As we expand our online offerings to meet the student demand, DePaul stays true to our high academic standards and commitment to offer students real-world experiences.”
DePaul also ranked 8th for best online bachelor’s program in business. Top officials of other colleges that award online degrees rated DePaul’s business programs highly for overall academic quality. The Driehaus College of Business offers online programs for Bachelor of Science in Business degrees in accountancy and marketing.
SCPS also offers a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies with a major in Business Administration. This program is designed for adult students who aim to advance to leadership or managerial positions in the workforce. SCPS equips adult and non-traditional undergraduate students with essential, transferable skills that are applicable in academic pursuits as well as professional, community and personal realms.
Education graduate programs rise in rankings, help veterans thrive
The College of Education also shines in the new rankings. The online master’s in education program rose to 147th from 202nd place this year. This ranking highlights universities with a high-quality program that “grants aspiring teachers and educational administrators opportunities to readily interact with their instructors and classmates.” Other dimensions of the ranking include the high regard employers hold for a teacher with a DePaul degree, as well as the program’s technology, flexibility and student excellence.
Within this category, DePaul rose to 13th for its specialty in educational administration and supervision. The online education master’s degree program also rated highly for veterans, placing 37th. U.S. News and World Report writes that veterans and active-duty service members “gain the most from distance education that is affordable, accessible and reputable.” The 2022 Best Online Programs for Veterans rankings measure these factors in consideration of financial benefits available specifically to people with military experience.
