The BUILD program offers DePaul faculty and staff a professional development opportunity by providing participants with the "building blocks to support an inclusive campus."
Since its inception in 2013, more than 3,600 faculty and staff have participated in BUILD. We have offered over 190 workshops facilitated by internal and external experts on various topics such as microaggressions, implicit bias, anti-racism, and religious diversity.
The BUILD program is a valuable professional development opportunity because it offers a unique experience for DePaul faculty and staff to learn new skills and engage in meaningful conversations centered around diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice topics. BUILD also affords faculty and staff the opportunity to interact with colleagues throughout the university. We have seen first-hand how these interactions can result in collaboration among various colleges and departments.
We strive to best support our colleagues and understand that their busy schedules may not always lend them the opportunity to attend workshops. Our program has evolved over the years, and we are proud to offer various modalities to attend BUILD workshops. The majority of our workshops are offered online, while others are offered in person and asynchronously.
Enrollment is on a rolling basis so you can register at any point throughout the academic year. Workshops are offered during the fall, winter, and spring quarters. We celebrate our BUILD graduates with a graduation ceremony in the spring.
