Summer is when we welcome more than 4,000 new students to DePaul for new student orientation. Freshmen participate in Premiere DePaul, and transfer and adult students in Transition DePaul.
One in-person Transition DePaul orientation session, for transfer students, has already taken place for students enrolling in the fall. The first Premiere DePaul session for freshmen entering in the fall will begin on July 11. Sessions will continue throughout the summer until the start of the autumn quarter. These orientation programs all begin on the Lincoln Park Campus, with Loop-based students traveling to the Loop Campus for a portion of the program.
Orientation is an important contributor to students' academic and social integration, and ultimately, their success in college. It is also an important time for DePaul, as we have the opportunity to make a critical first impression on our incoming freshman and transfer students. Orientation is a key part of a student's welcome, and I invite you to be a part of this critical time in their college journey.
Our faculty and staff are known for offering a warm welcome and assistance as needed as they encounter new students and their families on campus over the summer. These small acts reflect who we are as an institution: we respect the human dignity of all, we engage in and with the DePaul and Chicago communities and we “Take Care, DePaul." I hope you'll spend a moment to consider how you might exemplify these tenets as you interact with new students and their families this summer.
If you are unsure of how to help a student or family member or if you have any questions about Premiere or Transition DePaul programs, please visit

Thank you for everything you do for DePaul and its students.
