Dean John Milbauer invites the DePaul community to come together for a festive evening celebrating musical excellence at the School of Music’s annual Spring Gala. This year’s Gala will be held at 5 p.m. April 26 in the Holtschneider Performance Center on the university’s Lincoln Park Campus. Ernest (BUS '57, LLD '91) & Mimi Wish are the presenting sponsors of the evening.

The annual Spring Gala is the school's only fundraising event, with all proceeds benefitting student scholarship funds. School of Music alumnus Rich Daniels (SOM '83) will be honored at the Gala and receive the Pro Musica Award for his lasting contributions to the music community.

Daniels currently serves as chair of the School of Music’s Music Advisory Board, a position he has held for many years. In addition to his work with the school, Daniels is the music director of The City Lights Orchestra and is an active member of the community, serving in various board and philanthropic roles with several Chicago area nonprofits, including Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Illinois Arts Council, Archdiocese Office of Human Dignity & Solidarity, and Chicago Federation of Musicians.

The highlight of the evening will be live performances from two of the school's student ensembles — the DePaul Jazz Workshop under the direction of Scott Burns (SOM '03) and the DePaul Symphony Orchestra with guest conductor Daniel Boico. Guests will enjoy a pre-performance reception in the Schaeffer Lobby and a delicious post-concert dinner followed by a delightful dessert reception. Both receptions will feature performances by small student chamber and combo groups.

Guests can choose from various concert tickets and dinner packages, with special pricing for alums under 40 also available. Registration for the Gala closes April 11. We look forward to playing host for this special event.

Janice Hay is the senior director of marketing, communications & recruitment for the School of Music.
