As the DePaul community returns to campus after celebrating the holidays with family and friends, it's important to keep the university's safety guidance in mind.

Public Safety created five reminders for people to consider while on DePaul's campuses:

  • Sign up for DPU Alerts: Students, faculty and staff should sign up through Campus Connect to receive important notifications via text, phone and email from the university's direct emergency notification system. Visit Public Safety's website for more information and instructions on how to sign up.
  • Use DePaul's blue emergency call boxes: There are numerous well-marked blue towers located across the Lincoln Park Campus. Anyone who uses them will be quickly connected to Public Safety to report a crime, fire or other emergency.
  • Use DePaul's safety escort service: Faculty, staff and students can use the service on the Lincoln Park Campus between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. A Public Safety officer will escort by foot or car - up to two passengers - between one campus building or parking lot to another. Students, faculty and staff can request the service by calling (773) 325-7233 or ext. 57233 from a university house telephone.
  • Remain alert: Pay attention to your surroundings when commuting, especially while on Chicago Transit Authority trains and buses, and while walking on campus. Visit the CTA's website for additional safety tips.
  • Evacuate at the start of a fire alarm: Use the stairs, not an elevator, to evacuate immediately when a fire alarm is initiated.
Public Safety is committed to maintaining a peaceful and safe environment for students, faculty, staff and neighbors. For additional questions or comments, visit the department's directory for contact information.
