DePaul University announces the appointment of two new vice chairs for its Board of Trustees. The board recently elected Sasha Gerritson and Michael Scudder to serve as vice chairs, effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2024.
Sasha Gerritson is the opera and musical theatre director for Northeastern Illinois University. She joined DePaul’s Board of Trustees in 2012. She has served the board in many capacities over the past eight years, most recently as the chair for Now We Must: The Campaign for DePaul’s Students. The successful fundraising effort raised nearly $125 million to support students’ most urgent needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In March, Gerritson and her husband, Eugene Jarvis, announced a
legacy gift, the largest in the university’s history, to advance the College of Computing and Digital Media. In recognition of the couple’s generosity, the college has been renamed the Eugene P. Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media.
Gerritson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in opera performance, French and vocal pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. She also is an alumna of DePaul’s School of Music.
Michael Scudder is the executive chairman of the Board of Old National Bancorp, Inc. He previously served as the chairman and chief executive of First Midwest Bancorp, which merged with Old National in Feb. 2022. Scudder has spent nearly 40 years in commercial banking, helping to drive First Midwest and now Old National forward, while retaining a focus on community banking.
Scudder became a DePaul trustee in 2017 and has served on the athletics, finance and philanthropy committees. He earned his MBA from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University.
“Throughout their time on the board, Sasha and Mike have consistently demonstrated their commitment to DePaul students and strengthening our Catholic, Vincentian mission,” DePaul Board Chair Gerald Beeson says. “I appreciate their willingness to serve in these vital leadership positions for our Board of Trustees.”
Gerritson and Scudder follow Harry
Harczak and Judith Greffin, who have served as the board’s vice chairs over the past year. Both Harczak and Greffin will remain on the Board of Trustees. Harczak will serve as chair of the Finance Committee. Greffin, who most recently chaired the
Presidential Search Committee, will continue in her role as chair of the Investment Committee.
“I am beyond grateful to Harry and Judy for their dedication to DePaul - particularly during a period of leadership transition including the rigorous process of the presidential search,” Beeson says. “I look forward to their continued contributions to our board for years to come.”
