Abu Ghraib Detainee Interview Project: Works by Daniel Heyman

February 15 – May 4, 2008

For two years, Philadelphia-based artist Daniel Heyman attended interviews of former prisoners held at Abu Ghraib, drawing them and incorporating their testimony into the images. Their harrowing narratives of humiliation, providing the background to the well-known amateur photos, surround Heyman's spare and expressive portraits and contrast with the dignity of the victims, all of whom were released without charges.
