To promote safety in on-campus elevators, DePaul riders should follow these simple steps:
- Wear a face covering at all times.
- If you must sneeze or cough, keep your face covering over your mouth and nose.
- Stand apart as much as possible.
- Save your conversations with others until after you reach your destination.
- Use a key, shirt tail, sleeve or clean tissue to push your destination's elevator button.
- Following your elevator ride, wash your hands or use sanitizer from one of DePaul's 700 stations located across both campuses.
Facility Operations is taking extra care to create a safe ride for everyone. High-touch points, such as elevator buttons, will be disinfected regularly, and exhaust fans will circulate and refresh air in elevators. DePaul is also in the process of upgrading both campuses' elevators with new fans that contain UV-C light technology to supply disinfected breathing air into the elevator cabs.
Riders may need to wait in line to ride the elevator to align with social distancing guidelines. Particularly on the Loop campus, stewards will limit elevator capacity, manage queueing and ensure all riders are wearing face coverings.
