DePaul announces in-person commencement schedule for Class of 2022

On Jan. 19 DePaul announced its 2022 commencement ceremonies will be held in-person and via live webcast at the Chicago Theatre for the College of Law on Saturday, May 21, and Wintrust Arena for the remaining colleges on Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, at the following times: 

Saturday, June 11

  • 8 a.m. – College of Computing and Digital Media, and The Theatre School
  • 1 p.m. – College of Communication and College of Education
  • 6 p.m. – College of Science and Health, and School of Music
Sunday, June 12
  • 8 a.m. – Driehaus College of Business (undergraduate only)
  • 1 p.m. – Kellstadt Graduate School of Business
  • 6 p.m. – College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and School of Continuing and Professional Studies
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, DePaul will continue to monitor the situation. Commencement plans may change as needed to promote the safety and health of the DePaul community. Pending any changes to the city of Chicago’s mandates, all ceremony guests, age 5 and older, will be required to show proof of full vaccination as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to enter the event, and must wear a mask inside. More details will be shared in the coming weeks. Please regularly visit the Chicago Department of Public Health website for the latest safety mandates for graduates and their guests.

Graduating students

The remainder of this article outlines next steps for graduating students, including key deadlines, student speaker applications, ceremony ticket information and purchasing regalia.

​What’s next 
To help students prepare for their upcoming graduation, below is a list of upcoming deadlines and instructions by college: 
  • Feb. 1: Apply for degree conferral in Campus Connect (All colleges) 
  • March 25: Apply to be your college’s student speaker (June ceremonies only) ​ 
  • April 13: RSVP for your ceremony and reserve tickets (College of Law)
  • April 13: Purchase regalia through Herff Jones (College of Law) 
  • April 27: RSVP for your ceremony and reserve tickets in Campus Connect (June ceremonies) 
  • April 27: Purchase regalia through Herff Jones (June ceremonies)  
Degree conferral 
College of Law students who complete their coursework between summer session 2021 and spring semester 2022 are eligible to participate in the 2022 commencement ceremony. Students from all other colleges who complete their coursework between fall 2021 and summer session 2022 may be eligible to participate in the June 2022 commencement ceremonies. 

To apply for degree conferral, go to Campus Connect ​and use the following path: Academic Progress > Apply for Graduation. The deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 1 for spring quarter conferral.

Student speaker applications 
Graduates participating in the June ceremonies with an inspiring message are welcome to apply to be their college’s student speaker by 11:59 p.m. on March 25. 

RSVP and reserve ceremony tickets 
Each graduate will receive six tickets for their in-person ceremony. Graduates must have already applied for degree conferral to reserve tickets. College of Law graduates must RSVP by Wednesday, April 13 through Eventbrite​

For the June ceremonies, visit Campus Connect using the following path: Student Homepage > Academic Progress > RSVP for Commencement. The deadline is Wednesday, April 27. 

Purchase regalia 
To participate in the ceremonies, regalia is required and can be purchased through Herff Jones. The deadline to order is Wednesday, April 13 for the College of Law and April 27 for the June ceremonies. Bachelor’s degree regalia includes a tam, gown, tassel and red stole. Master’s and doctoral degree regalia includes a tam, gown, tassel and hood.
