In 2022, Pakistan experienced catastrophic flooding, which submerged one third of the country, killed nearly 1,800 people and affected over 30 million. Pakistan emits less than 1% of global greenhouse gases, but the country of 240 million is one of the world’s most at-risk for climate change.

Chicago’s historic Pullman neighborhood was built in the 1880s as a planned industrial community. Now, it is famed for its urban design and architecture and is Chicago’s only National Park. DePaul and City Colleges of Chicago established the DePaul Harold Washington Academy, a first-of-its-kind partnership to provide Chicago Public School students with an affordable pathway to a bachelor’s degree. The academy will be held on DePaul’s Loop Campus with classes taught by Harold Washington College faculty. It will serve approximately 100 Chicago Star Scholars in its first year.

DePaul University is strengthening its commitment to young people in Illinois with two new scholarship programs that will ease financial burdens in affording a high-quality college education for any Chicago Public Schools graduate or graduate of one of Illinois’ Catholic high schools who has a high school grade point average of 3.7 or higher and is admitted to DePaul as a full-time freshman.

Wintrust Arena at Chicago's McCormick Square is sporting what likely is the largest rooftop image of the Chicago flag anywhere in the world. Measuring 196 feet by 236 feet, installation of the flag image on the event center's roof was completed in late November.

DePaul's Corporate Employer Outreach program has continued to grow both in size and scope of degree programs, reaching Fortune 500 and 1000 businesses from across the city. While most student cohorts in the program pursue business degrees, some of the new companies to join are completing other degree tracks in science and health.
