Springtime is in the air, and for our colleagues and friends at the School of Music that means preparing for the annual gala and concert featuring the DePaul Symphony Orchestra.

This year’s event, scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, is just around the corner. With the Chicago Symphony Orchestra still on strike, organizers have decided to move the 2019 event to the Holtschneider Performance Center. This wasn’t an easy decision, but the entire DePaul community places a high value on being good artistic colleagues and peers and recognizes that many members of our community - including our faculty, staff, students and many of our donors - would be unable and/or unwilling to cross the Chicago Symphony Orchestra picket line. While we are all hopeful the strike will be resolved very soon, it is best to act now in order to ensure that appropriate alternate arrangements could be confirmed with adequate time to communicate the changes internally and externally.

Positively, this location change gives DePaul University the opportunity to show off our own beautiful new space, the Holtschneider Performance Center.  As we disseminate this news, we would appreciate your help and support in positively spreading the word. No matter the location, the entire evening will be an amazing gala and concert experience for all involved and continue to raise critical scholarship support for our students.
