Jim Mourey, a marketing professor in the Richard H. Driehaus College of Business, was honored in the 2018 list of "
40 Under 40 Best Professors" by Poets & Quants, an online publication that covers the graduate business education market.
The site highlighted Mourey's teaching method, which is equal parts education, engagement and entertainment. Drawing from his background in improvisational comedy, he reinforces this show biz bent with a key lesson: "You're always selling - and to do that you need to engage someone's heart as much as their minds."
Mourey has written two books and created the podcast "Brand New Day" and comical web series "Street Walkers" - both practical tools for teaching students about digital marketing and social media. He also serves as an advisor for the executive doctorate in business administration program at DePaul, and is the vice president on the international nonprofit board Creative Opportunities Unlimited. The organization's mission is to bring creative education to children around the world.
