On May 3, Franciscan Outreach presented DePaul with its Community Impact Award for the university's outstanding contributions to underserved communities throughout Chicago and the world. DePaul President A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., accepted the award on behalf of the university at the Franciscan Outreach Spring Gala.
The Franciscan Outreach Community Impact Award recognizes individuals, organizations and institutions that make significant contributions to help vulnerable people who are living in disadvantaged communities. The award specifically commends DePaul for its public service work in the Steans Center and the Institute of Global Homelessness.
"This award has been created to acknowledge those who are making exceptional efforts to strengthen underserved communities, promote a culture of inclusion and affirm the human dignity of all members of society," said Franciscan Outreach Executive Director Ed Jacob in a letter announcing the award. "It is our privilege to recognize DePaul University for the good work it's doing to support underserved communities through its Community Engagement Program and Steans Center and through its Institute of Global Homelessness."
Franciscan Outreach is one of the oldest and largest providers for men and women who are homeless in the Chicago area.
