Within many Christian traditions, the season of Lent is a time of reflection, repentance and fasting that leads to the holy celebration of Easter. The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday, set for Feb. 17. In collaboration with St. Vincent parish, DePaul will provide many ways in which community members can participate in Ash Wednesday prayers and rituals, whether in-person or virtually.
Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer and confession that includes marking the forehead with an ashen cross or sprinkling ashes on the head. The ashes serve as a reminder of human sinfulness and mortality which urge believers on to repentance.
Please note, no services will take place on the Loop Campus this year. Questions may be directed to Matt Merkt.
