DePaul men’s and women’s basketball teams have three games scheduled this week at Wintrust Arena.  The men host Creighton on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in their annual Cancer Awareness Pink game. The women finish the home portion of their schedule with games against Xavier and Butler on Friday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 24.

With just five games left in the regular season, the Blue Demons’ game against Creighton has major post season implications.  Heading into Wednesday’s game, the men are in a tie for seventh place in the BIG EAST and a win could catapult DePaul into fifth place, and a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament.

Looking to pink out Wintrust Arena and cheer on the battle against cancer, all fans will receive a commemorative DePaul pink t-shirt. There will be a special “I Cheer For” moment in the second half when all fans rise in unison to honor those affected by cancer.

The Creighton game also serves as a night to celebrate the College of Education and the School for New Learning at Wintrust Arena as part of DePaul’s College Game Day Series.

Carla Stone, a former women’s basketball standout, and a 1997 graduate of the College of Education, as well as a 2011 Golden Apple recipient, will deliver the game ball prior to tipoff. Along with Stone, Mark Aguirre, who was the first overall draft pick in the 1981 NBA Draft and is one of two DePaul players to have his jersey retired, will be featured in DePaul’s “Possessed with a Purpose” video segment. Aguirre is also a 2017 School for New Learning graduate.

Looking for their 17th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the women’s team enter their final home stand in second place in the BIG EAST standings. On Friday, the women host Xavier on “Special Olympics Night.” Friday’s game also is Performing Arts Night highlighting the School of Music and The Theatre School.

On Sunday, DePaul seniors Tanita Allen, Rebekah Dahlman, Mart’e Grays and Ashton Millender will be honored in a postgame ceremony. The Blue Demons and Bulldogs tip at 2 p.m. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a “Playing Possessed” umbrella.

DePaul faculty and staff receive a single-game discount on all basketball tickets when purchased on campus in Lincoln Park or by calling the ticket office at 773-325-SLAM.  DePaul students reserve their FREE tickets on Campus Connect.
