Kelly Chu earns Billy I. Ross Advertising Education Award

Last month, the American Academy of Advertising awards honored DePaul's Kelly Chu with the Billy I. Ross Advertising Education Award. An associate professor of public relations and advertising, the organization recognized Chu for her innovative work in education.

Each year, the AAA honors teachers who have advanced in the field of advertising and have completed projects or innovative efforts in teaching. Chu's award-winning work includes a study abroad program to Asia focused on advertising and branding. The course promotes in internationalization, diversity and entrepreneurship in advertising education, and provides students with skills in intercultural communication and diversity efforts.

“I am thrilled the American Academy of Advertising honored Kelly with this award," says Alexandra Murphy, acting dean of the College of Communication. “It is so deserved. Kelly is an extraordinary teacher and scholar dedicated to providing cutting-edge, relevant and value-based learning opportunities for her students."

Before coming to DePaul, Chu led study abroad courses in China and participated in programs including the Advertising Educational Foundation's Visiting Professor Program and Harvard University's Management Development Program.

The American Academy of Advertising is an organization that supports and promotes scholars and professionals who want to advance advertising knowledge and education.
