Students invited to attend DePaul Listens

DePaul University
(DePaul University/Arille Toub)
All DePaul students are invited to attend DePaul Listens on Wednesday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cortelyou Commons. DePaul faculty will be on hand to listen to students share their views about recent events at DePaul, involving freedom of speech, academic freedom, and hate speech.

The event is being organized by the faculty for the students. Our goals are to:
  1. Provide a platform for students to talk about their views concerning freedom of speech, academic freedom, and hate speech.
  2. Empower students to recognize their agency and the importance of sharing their views. DePaul’s mission demands that every freedom we enjoy also demands the responsibility to act thoughtfully.
  3. Identify tools and opportunities to respond/resist when our shared sense of community and social justice are threatened.
Join us and tell your fellow students to come along too. Students are welcome to stop by on May 22 anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Cortelyou Commons

Please direct any questions to Professor Matthew Girson, Department of Art Media, and Design. Professor Girson can be reached at mgirson@depaul.edu.
