At the beginning of May, the University of British Columbia School of Nursing awarded Paula N. Kagan, an associate professor in DePaul's School of Nursing, its Centenary Medal of Distinction. This year also marks Kagan's 40th anniversary of receiving her bachelor's of nursing from UBC.

The UBC School of Nursing Centenary Medal of Distinction marks the celebration of the school of nursing’s 100th anniversary. The medal serves to recognize individuals who have brought high honor to the school, to the profession of nursing, and have made long-standing and significant contributions to advance its vision and mission of the field.
