Panel discussion will look at continuing influence of 9/11

The legacy of 9/11 and the enduring reverberations, 20 years later, of this momentous American event will be the topic of discussion by an interdisciplinary group of DePaul professors on Thursday, Sept. 16.

The virtual event, which will run from 4 to 6 p.m., is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. All members of the university community are welcome to register for the program.​

The conversation will be moderated by Scott Hibbard, an associate professor of political science. Panel participants in the discussion will be:

  • ​Nesreen Akhtarkhavari, director of the Arabic Program ​and an associate professor of modern languages
  • Rocío Ferreira, chair of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and an associate professor of modern languages
  • Kaveh Ehsani, an associate professor of International Studies
  • Thomas Mockaitis, a professor of history
  • Shailja Sharma, an associate professor of international studies
