Staff members, are you looking for a way to have a meaningful impact on first-year students? Consider becoming a Chicago Quarter staff professional. Staff professionals are a critical piece of teaching teams in Chicago Quarter courses. Along with a faculty member and student mentor, the staff professional provides critical support to new students as they transition to DePaul.

Offered during the autumn quarter, Chicago Quarter courses acquaint first-year students at DePaul with the metropolitan community, its neighborhoods, cultures, institutions, organizations and issues. It is through these classes students make first contact with both the university's urban identity and its Vincentian mission. Students also learn about university life, resources and how to be a successful student. This learning is accomplished through a variety of means, but particularly through first-hand participation, personal discovery and reflection.

“Beyond a way to help faculty and student mentors in the classroom, this role is an opportunity for professional development," says Interim Provost Salma Ghanem. “This position is a great way to build relationships and encourage student success at DePaul. We hope managers will support their staff who wish to serve the university in this meaningful way."
