The Stage Managers' Association named Alden J. Vaszquez one of this year's recipients of the Del Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Art of Stage Management. Vasquez has taught stage management at DePaul University for 23 years and is currently a production stage manager at the Goodman Theatre.

He has stage managed 29 productions of "A Christmas Carol," as well as more than 85 other productions. Among his other credits are Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Trinity Rep, Peninsula Players, Manhattan Theatre Club, Arizona Theatre Company, Madison Theatre Company as well as Chicago's Remains Theatre and Teatro Vista Theatre Company.

Instituted in 1986, the award was named for Del Hughes, a Broadway and television stage manager as well as a TV director from 1933 through the 1970s. The prestigious Del Hughes Stage Management Award is regarded throughout the theatrical community as a crowning achievement for a stage manager's career.

In September, the organization will present Vasquez with the award at a virtual event.
