Each year, the Steans Center facilitates authentic campus-community collaborations in the quest for justice and transformative education. This year, in support of this mission-based work, the center will offer a four-part workshop series, a set of issues-based community conversations and a certificate program. The 2019-20 series will commence with the "Introduction to Community-based Service Learning for Social Change." All faculty and staff are invited.
The programs are ideal for those wishing to:
- Teach a Community-based Service Learning course
- Further or refresh their knowledge and practice of experiential education
- Connect with colleagues and community partners through issues-based community conversations
- Complete the Steans CbSL Certificate Program -- four workshops plus a capstone project
- Experience the Faculty Community Immersion Institute
The certificate program provides:
- A $250 Stipend
- A Certificate in Community-based Service Learning
- Mentoring support for assessment, service recognition, and conference presentations
