The annual list highlights "powerful young women with a message to send." At the age of 19, Amiwala announced her candidacy for the Cook County Board of Commissioners to serve as a voice for her generation and other marginalized communities.
Founded in 1944, "Seventeen" magazine is a publication aimed at promoting self-confidence in young women.
