On Tuesday, March 8, DePaul will host a panel discussion on the current situation in Ukraine. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend the online session.

“We hope to use this as a venue for students and faculty to learn about the situation in Ukraine and discuss its impact as a humanitarian issue and on refugees and its implications for security," says Shailja Sharma, director of DePaul's Refugee and Forced Migration Studies program and moderator for the event.

Panelists for the program are experts in diplomacy and global affairs:

  • Lili Bivings, a 2014 DePaul alumna of international studies, former reporter for the Kyiv Independent and Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine.
  • Dick Farkas, a professor of political science at DePaul and specialist in the politics of former Communist states.
  • Cécile Shea, a nonresident senior fellow on security and diplomacy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
