Animation Career Review has ranked DePaul as the 13th best animation program in the United States, marking a leap of two spots from last year. Not only is DePaul excelling nationally, but the program is also standing out in the Midwest, earning the
top spot.
Behind this rise in the rankings is DePaul's strong industry connections and its commitment to providing students with real-world experiences. Last year, the program launched its first collaboration with Nickelodeon, allowing students to work on professional projects and gain valuable industry insights. DePaul also hosts
Visiting Artists Series events, which bring in notable guests from the animation world such as acclaimed filmmaker Adam Elliot. Student groups have represented DePaul for the past two years at the prestigious
SIGGRAPH Conference, a gathering of professionals devoted to computer graphics.
DePaul also offers unique global learning opportunities, with study abroad programs in Canada and Japan. These experiences provide students with exposure to international animation trends and techniques, enriching their education and broadening their professional networks.
Scott Roberts, director of the Animation Program, credits the program's rise in rankings to DePaul's exceptional animation faculty. Their expertise and industry experience have been instrumental in shaping the program's success, and faculty members continue to set new standards for innovation and excellence in the field.
Upcoming events include the Mayday Animation Jam from May 2–5, where students can collaborate on creative projects in a fun, intensive environment. For high school students interested in pursuing animation,
DePaul's Summer Academy camp is now accepting applications, offering a taste of college-level animation education. The 50/50 Con, hosted by the
50/50 Club, which is the DePaul chapter of Women in Animation, will also provide students with a platform to network and engage with industry professionals.
