Sarah Brown, an assistant director of faculty development and instructional technology, has been named the 2021 recipient of the Excellence in First-Year Writing Teaching Award.
Brown was nominated by students in the First-Year Writing Program, who credited her supportive, individualized feedback with boosting their confidence as writers. They also described her reliable, consistent encouragement for boosting their confidence during uncertain times.
The Excellence in First-Year Writing Teaching Award is supported by the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse, and it is coordinated by the First-Year Writing Committee. This year, more than 75 instructors were nominated for the honor.
