Traditionally, May 1 is the deadline for high school seniors who have received an offer of admission from DePaul to make a decision on whether to enroll.
This year, DePaul is extending the deadline to June 1.
Carlene Klaas, dean of Undergraduate Admission, tells the
Chicago Tribune: “We are being flexible with students this year. We know this pandemic has upended a lot of seniors’ plans for graduation, prom, etc., not to mention their college decisions.”
She tells Newsline: “We want to give high school seniors and their families a little more time. We are empathetic. We know the pressure students are under. This is a big decision for them.”
"Although high school students are unable to visit campus in-person under the current situation, they are invited to
Visit DePaul Virtually," Klaas says. “The website notes we are now offering daily online information sessions with a live counselor as well as individual Zoom appointments, virtual tours and more."
DePaul is still accepting applications for the Summer and Fall Quarters from high school seniors and transfer students.
“We realize there are students who could now be considering different college options than they may have been before the pandemic. For example, students in the Chicago area who may now want to consider staying closer to home, and DePaul would be a great option for them,” Klaas notes. “While transfer students follow a different timeline to apply for admission than high school students, we are absolutely flexible with them as well and have transfer-specific virtual visit opportunities."
Note: The deadline for the School of Music and The Theatre Shool is still May 1. The deadline for the College of Law is still May 15.
