As the only Midwest institution to make the list, DePaul stands out as a regional leader in animation education.
This recognition comes at a pivotal time for the animation industry, which is undergoing major shifts due to global outsourcing and the rise of artificial intelligence. Despite these challenges, DePaul is equipping students with the skills, connections, and adaptability they need to thrive in the industry.
This academic year also marked a significant milestone for DePaul, with Animation Career Review moving the university up two spots to No. 13 in the nation.
“It's an honor to be mentioned alongside such amazing schools that have been around much longer than our program, and to be the only school included from the Midwest," says Scott Roberts, associate professor and animation program chair in the Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media. “This is a wonderful tribute to the hard work and talent of our alumni, students, faculty team, and staff."
Looking ahead this summer, high school students will be participating in DePaul's Summer Academy camp, which offers a taste of college-level animation education.
In an era when aspiring animators must be both artists and strategists, DePaul stands out for its commitment to preparing students not just for today's jobs, but for the future of animation itself.
