DePaul University President Robert L. Manuel has been elected vice chair of the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, effective July 1, 2024. Manuel will serve a one-year term as vice chair and is in line to assume the board chair post in July 2025.

Founded in 1976, NAICU is the only national membership organization solely focused on representing private, nonprofit higher education on public policy issues in Washington, D.C. NAICU board members set the association’s agenda on federal higher education policy, actively encourage support for the association’s priorities and initiatives and oversee the organization’s financial administration.

“It is a great honor for me to represent DePaul on the NAICU Board of Directors,” Manuel says. “One of NAICU’s goals in representing private, non-profit universities in D.C. is to ensure that all students have access to higher education. That mission falls directly in line with our university’s efforts for more than 125 years. I look forward to collaborating with outstanding leaders across the country in enrolling, supporting and graduating students of all backgrounds.”
