The Society for Human Resource Management has bestowed its Merit Award on its DePaul chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to members during the 2020-21 academic year.
Chapters are recognized based on operations, chapter programming, professional development of members, support of the human resource profession and SHRM engagement.
Outgoing president Jennifer Salazar, who just completed her MS in Human Resources, says the chapter organized events throughout 2020-21 that included a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion panel of human resources industry experts that drew more than 80 participants. The group also sponsored workshops on resumes, interviewing and how to conduct a data-informed job search, networking opportunities with faculty, staff, alumni and recruiters, and a book club.
Beyond programming, Salazar says, the chapter also promoted the professional benefits of SHRM within DePaul and established a social media presence.
