Carolina Sternberg, an associate professor and chair of the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies, is the recipient of 2022-23 Wicklander Fellowship. Sponsored by the university's Institute for Business and Professional Ethics, the fellowship honors full-time DePaul faculty who demonstrate an interest in applied or professional ethics related to their particular field of research.
Sternberg’s main areas of research and teaching combine urban studies, Latin American studies, and urban policies in both U.S. and Latin American settings. It includes the examination of the relationship between neoliberal urban governance and gentrification in Buenos Aires and Chicago, separately and in comparative analysis. Her Wicklander project will focus on how the role of feminist care ethics is helping to build more inclusive and just cities in the Global South.
Founded in 1985, the Institute for Business and Professional Ethics facilitates ethical deliberation in decision-makers by stirring their moral conscience, encouraging moral imagination, and stimulating research in business innovation and practices. The IBPE serves as a forum for exploring and fostering ethical practices in business.
