In November, the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education recognized DePaul with its 2019 POD Innovation Award. The award went to Joe Olivier, Bridget Wagner, Daniel Stanford, Sarah Brown and Sharon Guan from the Center for Teaching and Learning, as well as GianMario Besana and Rosi Leon from the Office of Global Engagement.

The team’s award-winning innovation project focused on DePaul’s implementation of a faculty development program to support virtual exchange experience in their coursework, known to Blue Demons as the Global Learning Experience. As of the summer 2019, faculty have added this component to 100 courses across multiple disciplines, allowing more than 1,800 students to collaborate with their peers around the world.

Founded in 1976, the POD Network aims to improve teaching and learning in higher education. It provides its members with personal and academic relationships essential for professional growth.
