Hoerdemann-Twiss was born the only child of Anton and Mary Armon Rakewich on Sept. 15, 1930, in LaSalle, Ill. She graduated from LaSalle – Peru High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Ewald G. Hoerdemann on June 20, 1959. He preceded her in death in November 1985. She later married Francis Twiss Jr. in 1989. He preceded her in death in November 2008. She co-owned several businesses with her first husband and worked in the Activity Department at St. Clara's Manor for 16 years.

She loved the theatre, music, museums and walking. Hoerdemann-Twiss was always a supporter of her daughter Carolyn's work as an actor and teacher and made sure she could attend The Theatre School at DePaul.

Hoerdemann-Twiss was loved by many as a long-time volunteer of her church, a Eucharistic minister to the sick and a caregiver to the children of Carrol Catholic School. She led the rosary at several institutions and nursing homes, began a rosary walk and volunteered at the Holy Family Food Pantry.

Surviving Hoerdemann-Twiss are her five children: Michelle, Hans, Eric (Kristi), Paul (Jane), and Carolyn, as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for a bench at the pond or donated to the Holy Family Food Pantry.
