It is with sadness we have learned of the death of Thomas David Walters, father-in-law of Bala Chaudhary, an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Studies. He passed away at home on Aug. 14 at the age of 82 due to cancer.

Born in 1937 in Ft. Worth, Texas, Walters discovered flying at an early age, and joined the Navy to become a pilot. After his military service, he flew for Delta Airlines. He met his wife, Marion, in the airline community in Atlanta, and they eventually settled in Dallas. A dedicated and loving husband, a fiercely proud father, and the most tickling "Granddad," Walters was an avid hunter, shooter, highly regarded gunsmith and loved working with his hands. He was a reliable and generous friend.

He is survived by his wife Marion, daughter Mary, son Lawrence and wife Bala, two grandchildren as well as sister Pat, brother Bill, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. He will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to Church of the Incarnation, ATTN: Covid Relief Fund, 3966 Mckinney Ave, Dallas TX 75204. He will be interred at a private ceremony.

Our heartfelt condolences to Bala Chaudary and her family and loved ones. May he rest in peace.
