It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Joe Rizzi, Sr., DePaul alumnus and adjunct finance professor, and father of Joe Rizzi, Jr., instructor in the Driehaus College of Business. He passed away on Dec. 17.
Rizzi had many academic and professional pursuits within finance and law. After graduating with a BS from DePaul, an MBA from the University of Chicago and University of Notre Dame Law School, Rizzi held various strategic and senior roles within ABN AMRO Bank in Chicago and Amsterdam for more than 20 years. He later led investment strategy for CapGen Financial - a financial services focused private equity group - before focusing on teaching and spending time with family. In addition, he was an author of numerous articles and regular contributor to the American Banker newspaper.
Rizzi was known for his insatiable hunger for knowledge and his appreciation for good food and global travel. He is survived by his wife, Candace, and children: Jennifer, Joe Jr. and Samantha. He is also survived by his half-brother and two grandchildren. Due to COVID-19, the family has chosen to postpone a private memorial until summer 2021. Condolences may be shared online.
