It is with sadness we have learned of the death of Janet "Jan" Kutina, the mother of Katie Grublesky, a personnel coordinator in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Science's Office of the Dean. Kutina died on March 16 at the age of 75. May she rest in peace.

It is with sadness we have learned of the death of Janet

Kutina lived and worked all of her life on the southwest side of Chicago. She was married for 49 years, until her husband's death in 2020. She loved her family with all of her heart, making sure Katie had all of the opportunities that she did not growing up. She was extremely proud Katie was the first in the family to attend college. Kutina also enjoyed watching black and white films, studying American history and traveling throughout the U.S.

Kutina will be sorely missed by Katie and son-in-law Aaron, as well as by many life-long friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
