In memoriam: Jaime Alban Sr., father of Student Financial Accounts' Divina Chan

Jaime Malazo Alban Sr., the father of Divina Chan, associate vice president of Student Financial Accounts, passed away on Feb. 4 at the age of 85.

Alban was born on March 2, 1937, in the Philippines to Fructuoso Alban and Nieves Caoagas. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was a member of the Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago, the Diamond Lions Club and the Chicago chapter of the Order of the Knights of Rizal.

Alban worked as an accountant and controller for 35 years in the meat-packing industry, starting his career at Swift Eckridge, then Monfort, which later became Conagra.

Alban's survivors include Marina (Miran) Alban, his wife of 59 years; children Jina Canson, Divina Alban Chan and Jaime Alban Jr.; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Feb. 10 and 11. Condolences may be posted online.
