With sadness, we have learned of the recent death of Jongsoon Park Chung, the mother of Junehee Chung, a faculty member in the English Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Jongsoon passed away Jan. 27 at her home in Brookline, Mass., after a long illness.

A graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Yale Graduate School of Fine Arts, Chung was trained as a painter and taught art for many years at the University of Bridgeport, Albertus Magnus College and the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven before retiring in 1990.

Her works were exhibited at the National Art Exhibition in Seoul; Yale University; the Hammond Museum of North Salem, N.Y.; and various schools, galleries and art shows in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Other works are held in private collections around the world.

Chung was preceded in death by her husband in 2016, after 55 years of marriage, and she is survived by three children and their spouses, six grandchildren and an older brother.

A memorial service was held March 4 in Hamden, Conn. Contributions in memory of Chung may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support multiple myeloma research and patient care: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
