It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of longtime DePaul staff member Kathie Fallucca, who passed away Wednesday, March 29. Fallucca was known across many parts of the university as a colleague and friend for the past 33 years. Her kind, smiling, joyous presence was always evident, most recently in her work at the DePaul Help Desk.
"Kathie welcomed me when I first started at DePaul with a bright smile and kind encouragement. She treated everyone with respect and kindness, from those who she helped over the phone to her colleagues to everyone in between and beyond," says Kat Keating, Help Desk associate director.
Fallucca knew all the ins and outs of the university, and she helped thousands of people during her time at the university to find the answers they needed. In 2018, DePaul recognized her with a Distinguished Service Award.
According to her colleague Jeanne Upreti, a Help Desk specialist, Fallucca "was truly a kind and caring soul. She was very devoted to her position serving others."
Fallucca had many wonderful stories to tell during her time at DePaul, which she frequently shared with her colleagues. She was a supportive and dedicated team member who touched the hearts of all she knew, and she will be greatly missed.
Her sister, Loren Zuckweiler, says, "She loved her job, and we are so thankful to you all for embracing and watching over her throughout the years."
The family will hold private memorial services later in May. A DePaul memorial service will be held on Zoom on
Wednesday, May 10, at 3 p.m. Register here to receive the Zoom link.
