Who is Eligible?
All
degree-seeking DePaul undergraduate students are eligible to participate
in FYAS. We provide the opportunity to take one or more math, chemistry
or writing prerequisite courses to first-year, transfer, and current
DePaul undergraduates. These prerequisite courses are also during the
academic year: however, we offer students the opportunity to complete
the courses over the summer and during winter intersession tuition-free. Students are encouraged to participate in FYAS at the beginning of their undergraduate career. However, participation is limited to two classes in their first year to ensure that students complete their math requirements in a timely manner.
If you are unsure if you are eligible for FYAS, contact our office by phone (773-325-7426) or email (fyas@depaul.edu).
How Do I Participate?
New-to-DePaul students (Freshmen and Transfer)
Let
us know that you're interested in participating in FYAS by either
filling out and mailing back the interest card that was mailed to your
home address or by completing the preference form online (available April 1st). Once we receive the postcard or complete online form, you will be
contacted by FYAS with information regarding next steps for
registration. Next steps for registration are dependent upon where you
are in the admission process.
- If you have completed the placement process, FYAS will notify you about which course you have placed into.
- If
you have not completed the placement process, FYAS will notify you that
you need to complete the placement process before we can place you into
a class.
Placement into FYAS courses is
determined by placement results and the appropriate course sequence for
your major. More information about DePaul's Math Placement Assessment
is available here.
