FYAS offers support to you throughout the summer and winter sessions and throughout your first year at DePaul through the following resources:
FYAS Advisor
As a FYAS participant, you will meet with Sonia Lizardo, the FYAS Advisor, to create
a personalized academic success plan for your first year.
- Determine a plan for academic success
- Discuss degree progress
- Learn about quarterly connections to DePaul resources through presentations and workshops
- Receive midterm and finals support through reserved space and time for peer study groups
For more information about the FYAS advisor, navigate to the FYAS advisor page.
Success Series
At the FYAS Success Series, you'll establish DePaul support network by connecting with DePaul staff and students. The FYAS Success Series is a weekly program during the summer sessions that covers key topics
like financial aid, faculty expectations, career planning, and more.
These sessions are designed to ease the transition into university life.
Attendance is mandatory
for first-year students. Current students are invited to attend, but
attendance is not mandatory. During the first week of each summer session, the Success Series is not
held. In place of the Success Series, all FYAS students are required to
attend the
FYAS Overview Session. If you have a conflict that prevents you from attending, please contact our office.
The Success Series schedule for Summer 2022 will be available in early June.
Supplemental Instruction
Each course includes supplemental instruction which helps students focus
on their particular learning needs. To learn more, visit the Supplemental Instruction website.
Tutoring
Tutoring is offered, at designated times, throughout each summer session on a drop-in basis. Tutoring is available for all FYAS classes.
